Camp is open to athletes entering grades 5–12. Middle school and high school runners can attend as individuals or with a team.
Yes. Individuals and teams are both welcome. Camp brings runners together through training, activities and time with their camp group.
Campers should be able to run for 30 minutes without stopping. They do not need to be varsity runners. Our coaches tailor training to each camper’s experience and ability, with appropriate breaks and activities for younger runners.
Talk about the runs, activities and friendships ahead, and remind your child that our staff wants them to feel welcome. Review the packing list together and encourage them to speak up whenever they need help.
Yes. Camp works seamlessly with the Without Limits youth summer programs and takes place during the high school dead week.
Health, Safety & Support
Meet the people caring for your camper on our staff page.
Our staff-to-camper ratio is 1:6.
We have a nurse on staff, several staff members are CPR certified, and we travel with an AED. In a medical emergency, we call 911. Camper health and safety come first.
Yes. Let us know about dietary needs before camp so we can coordinate accommodations with Lees-McRae College’s dining hall. Contact Michelle to discuss your camper’s specific needs.
Contact Michelle before camp to discuss your child’s needs and the camp’s medication procedures.
Encourage your child to tell a staff member. Our team can help with homesickness, physical concerns and challenges with teammates. We want campers to speak up early so we can help. Conversations are handled with appropriate privacy.
No. Swimming is optional. Let us know before camp if your athlete is a weak swimmer or has concerns about water activities.
Life at Camp
Get ready with the packing list and explore meals at camp.
No. Bring a sleeping bag or twin XL sheets, a pillow and towels. Review the packing list before leaving home.
You bet. High-speed campus Wi-Fi is available.
Yes. Roommate requests are collected during the registration process and are typically honored.
We do not take phones from campers. We want them to be able to take pictures and interact with one another, so you should be able to reach your child by calling or texting as usual. If we notice campers spending too much time on electronics instead of experiencing the mountains, our staff helps them put their devices aside and stay present.
